The American Legion Post 86 is proud to support the next generation of American leaders through our annual scholarship program. We are committed to fostering education for the children and grandchildren of those who have served our nation.

Our scholarship program is entirely funded through our annual gun raffle and direct donations.

Scholarship Details

Post 86 will be awarding four (4) individual scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, to deserving high school seniors in our area.

This scholarship is designed to recognize students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and a commitment to their community, while honoring the service of their family members.


Application Guidelines

To be considered for the American Legion Post 86 Scholarship, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and follow the specific submission instructions below.

Qualification Prerequisites

  • Currently a high school senior graduating in the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Must be a child or grandchild of a military veteran with honorable discharge.
  • Successful completion of application and essay, submitted by due date.

Required Materials

  • Completed Official Application Form
  • High School Transcript
  • Essay (prompt will be provided on the application)
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Relationship to Veteran and their Status
  • Letter of Admission to a college

Submission Protocol: Hard Copy Mandate

Applications must be physically postmarked by the deadline. Digital or email transmissions are prohibited and will result in rejection. This strict procedure is non-negotiable and ensures the integrity and uniformity of the review process.
