Welcome to the official page for the American Legion Post 86 Annual Fundraiser Raffle. This year-long fundraiser is the primary means by which Post 86 raises funds to provide local scholarships to deserving high school students in Nacogdoches County. Additional funds are used for Veteran programs.
Every ticket purchased supports the future leaders of our community and honors the legacy of veterans through education or a support a veteran program.
Raffle Period & Deadline
- Raffle Start Date: January 1st
- Ticket Sales End Date: 17:00 (4 pm) CST on December 7th, 2025
- Official Award Date: Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th
- Final Ticket Purchase Deadline: Immediately prior to the scheduled Christmas Dinner drawing.

Get ready for the most delicious day in the Lone Star State! The Texas Blueberry Festival is a day-long celebration of the annual harvest in the oldest town in Texas. Downtown Nacogdoches transforms into a vibrant festival grounds featuring live music on multiple stages, blueberry picking tours, and a massive array of arts and crafts.
From the Blueberry Cupcake Battle to the classic car show and the “Blueberry Jam” concert, there is non-stop entertainment for all ages.
Be sure to stop by the American Legion Post 86 booth!
We’ll be out there all day connecting with the community—come say hi, learn about our upcoming programs, and see how we’re supporting our local veterans.
- Fresh Blueberries: Buy them by the flat or take a shuttle to pick your own at a local farm.
- Blueberry Treats: Enjoy everything from blueberry pancakes to specialized festival food.
- Live Entertainment: Enjoy local bands and performers at Festival Park and the downtown stages.

Cool off this summer with a slice of East Texas tradition! The What-A-Melon Festival, hosted by the Center Rotary Club, is one of the premier summer events in Shelby County. The historic downtown square comes alive with the sights and sounds of a classic hometown festival, featuring a full carnival, live gospel and country music, and—of course—some of the biggest watermelons you’ve ever seen.
The highlight of the weekend is the “Largest Watermelon” weigh-in, where local growers compete for top honors with melons often tipping the scales at over 100 pounds.
While you’re enjoying the festivities,

Stop by to chat with our members, grab some information on veteran services, and see how we are staying active in our neighboring communities.
- Watermelon Contests: Seed spitting and speed eating contests for all ages.
