Since we were chartered in 1919 in Nacogdoches, American Legion Post 86 has served as the dedicated Forward Operating Base (FOB) for veterans across East Texas. We are committed to executing our charter and ensuring every veteran, camaraderie, and assistance they earned, while investing in the next generation through high school scholarships and future military personnel sponsorship is fully resourced. We are proudly a 100% volunteer-run organization, ensuring we are actively engaging the battlespace to serve the city that served our country.

Our mission is defined by three unwavering pillars that ensure the legacy of those who served is honored today and invested in tomorrow:
- Future Personnel Sponsorship: Actively supporting local JROTC/ROTC cadets and military-bound students through specialized training, resources, and mentorship, preparing the next generation of American leaders.
- Veteran Benevolence: Providing immediate and essential support to local veterans facing hardship, including financial aid, resources, and crucial community connections.
- High School Scholarships: Investing in the future by funding educational opportunities for graduating seniors from local high schools, recognizing the power of education.
